Our Story

IndriVanilla was founded in 2011 by Whitney Olsen. She was frustrated by the high cost of vanilla beans and found a farmer to purchase from directly.  IndriVanilla is named after Indri - the sister of the first farmer we ever worked with. We purchase at fair trade prices, paying the asking price for our goods. This allows our farmers the opportunity to earn a living wage.

We are especially eager to search out and purchase vanilla beans and other wonderful spices from small-scale farmers and suppliers.  This sometimes comes with financial risks, but we are committed to support those in this industry who are not part of large-scale plantations and manufacturers.

Sara Anderson took over IndriVanilla in November of 2019.  She is a food enthusiast with a passion for all things homemade. She loves to experiment with new recipes and ways to use Vanilla. She and her husband, Eric, live in Northern Utah with their four children and eight chickens. They love to garden together and DIY as much as possible.

As a company, we are committed to improving the world and giving back. We donate a portion of our proceeds to nonprofit organizations that improve the lives of others.
