Update on the "Unicorse" Group order
Update as of May 29, 2026: THEY'RE HERE! The new shipment of Timor Leste V. planifolia vanilla beans cleared customs and was delivered to IndriVanilla Headquarters on May 29, 2026. We are going to be very careful as we inspect them, but will begin fulfillment for all the outstanding orders on June 1, 2026. Thank you all so much for your patience!
The latest in the Timor Leste vanilla bean saga! TL:DR: We have hit a significant delay on our shipment of Timor Leste vanilla beans on the "Unicorse" Cyber Monday order. If you’re ok to wait, no action is needed. If you’d like to change your order, fill out the delay response form below.
Update as of Mid-April: The good news: our suppliers are amazing and we have another shipment being prepped that will fulfill all the pending orders! We are double and triple checking that all the paperwork will be perfectly in order before they ship so we don’t have any more snags. The bad news: We have no idea how long this paperwork verification process is going to take. We're all HIGHLY motivated to get these beans in as fast as possible, but the red tape is unbelievable and the process is not moving quickly. We do not have an estimate on when it will be complete and able to ship.
Update as of the first week of March: We have been fighting tooth and nail with US Customs to release our beans! They're still stuck at the border and though we've submitted stacks of paperwork and third party tests showing our beans are clean and good, they have refused to release our product. Our entire shipment had to be destroyed. We've requested a whole new shipment of beans from our supplier (this is over 500kg we're talking about here!). We sincerely hope the new shipment will arrive without drama. You can still make changes/adjustments to your order at any point (as it has been since January) by using the delay response form at the bottom of this page.
To recap, we received beans that had quality issues and had to order more good beans from our supplier. Our new shipment has been in transit since before the holidays. It was routed through Indonesia, but a few months ago Indonesia had some shrimp and cloves that tested with high levels of cesium. This triggered a recall in the USA and caused the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to lock down imports from Indonesia on certain products including spices (which our vanilla beans fall under). The US government is requiring additional testing and paperwork before products are cleared for import. We hoped we could pull the info together quickly, but we're having to work with our suppliers and the Indonesian government to get the necessary testing/paperwork. It is a longer process than we expected.
Because we're outside our expected delivery window, we have a few options for affected beanies to choose from. The Delay Response form outlines the options. If you have an outstanding “Unicorse” order, feel free to fill this out. We also emailed everyone with an outstanding order, but sometimes emails are flagged with spam blockers. If you have an outstanding “Unicorse” order, you can search for an email from Group@IndriVanilla.com.
Group orders carry a measure of risk that our retail orders don’t (since retail beans are always in stock) but we try to make it worth that risk by offering the best prices on our site and covering our group orders with our delivery guarantee. This delay is not normal for us and we're frustrated that things went sideways on our special holiday sale! Thank you so much for your business and trust in us. We value our customers and take great care to protect your purchase.
