South Sudan V. planifolia
South Sudan V. planifolia
This vanilla bean grown in South Sudan, V. planifolia species, has a spectacularly dense vanilla aroma. They are warm and sweet, and are very vanilla-forward with a finish of apricot fruit leather. Because of that fruity component, we suggest making extract with a neutral alcohol like vodka or white rum, or add them to brandy or gold rum to bring out the apricot notes.
South Sudan V. planifolia vanilla beans are extract grade. You can expect dry, short, and maybe split vanilla beans that are packed with flavor. While they can be used to make vanilla paste, they will do their best work in vanilla extract or after they have been soaked in 80 proof alcohol (40% abv) for 2-3 weeks so they can hydrate a bit.
To save on packaging, beans purchased by the ounce will be shipped in a selection of one or two-ounce vacuum bags to make up the total number of ounces ordered.
